No. Auctions, car pages, photographs, current prices, results, live auctions and this help center are public. Sign in is required only for personal actions such as watching a car, registering, placing a hold, bidding, and viewing your dashboard.

Once, on your dashboard: accept the buyer agreement and save a card. Registration is approved the moment both are on file, and it covers every car on the site. There is nothing to apply for per auction.

Register on your dashboard

You have accepted the buyer agreement and have not saved a card yet. Save one on your dashboard and you are registered. If the buyer agreement changes, you accept the new version before bidding on cars published under it.

Before your first bid on a car, a refundable authorization hold goes on your saved card. It is not the purchase price and it is not a charge. One hold covers every bid you make on that car, or every car in a live auction. It is released when the auction closes unless you win, and for the winner once the buyer fee is paid. The amount is shown on the car page before you place it. Your bank may keep showing it as pending for a few days after release.

A regular bid offers the next allowed amount. A maximum tells the platform the most you authorize it to bid for you. Your maximum stays private, and the platform uses only enough of it to keep you ahead, subject to the increment rules.

Yes. The earlier accepted maximum has priority when limits are equal. The bid history and the "you are the high bidder" message are more reliable than trying to infer the result from the displayed price alone.

The bid history lists every bid accepted on a car, newest first, with the amount and the time. A bid marked "automatically" was placed for someone by their private maximum. If staff ever take a bid back, it stays in the list marked "Retracted", so the record is always complete. Nobody’s maximum is ever shown.

A bid near the end extends that car’s closing time. This can happen repeatedly while bidding continues. It prevents last-second sniping and gives every bidder time to respond. The exact window and extension are stated on each car’s page. Always follow the live countdown there.

Register to bid holds the buyer agreement and your card. Active bids shows cars where you are participating, Watchlist contains saved cars, Won shows successful purchases and whether the buyer fee has gone through, and Holds shows the refundable holds you have placed. Notification preferences control the alerts the platform currently supports.

Look for the status beside the car in Active bids or on the car page. An outbid alert is a prompt to check the current car; it is not a substitute for the status shown by the platform.

Open Notifications on your dashboard to choose how alerts reach you, by email or by text. Which cars you hear about is set on each car in your watchlist. Alerts about your bids stay on even if you unsubscribe from other mail, and a text is only sent once your mobile number is verified and you have agreed to texts.

Open Sell, read what the team looks for, and apply. Once you are approved and have accepted the seller agreement, you write the listing yourself, with the same photo tools the house uses, and submit it. The team reviews every listing, may send it back with notes, and schedules it when it is ready. Nothing goes live without a person having looked at it.

Sell a car

Have the VIN, title status, ownership history, mileage and how it should be read, service records, modifications, known faults, lien information, and clear photographs ready. Complete and candid information leads to a stronger listing and fewer buyer disputes.

No. Sellers may not bid on their own cars. The platform checks this rule, and staff activity is recorded for accountability.
